We begin our journey by bringing Aspire to our church, First Baptist Church, Boerne, Tax. Our first class is March 7 2010. Our Team Larry & Becca and Robert & Jackie are very excited how God has made this all possible, with little effort on our part. We prayed as a couple’s and as a team for God to lead us where he wanted us to go. And DID HE! We have partnered with several other ministries to help with the day to day needs, job training, day care, health care, clothing, food assistance, and more, and most of all introducing these single parents to a Father who will never leave them nor forsake them, and loves them forever and ever!

Pray for our leaders and single parents.

Your Brother’s & Sisters in Christ,

We are excited to announce that Aspire Ministry has launched at First Baptist Church of Boerne!! Welcome to the Aspire family!! Below is an update from Robert Holman, Aspire Board Member & the catalyst for the launch in Boerne.

Pastor Mike,

We had a great turn out for our first class at First Baptist Church, Boerne. We had 5 single parents show up to share ideas. I believe we all walked away with a blessing and we all share the excitement of a new family and look forward to studying God’s word. We had a brief meeting with Pastor Scott and he too was very excited about our plans. There were several ideas that came about such as maybe a camping or hiking trip with the single parents and their children.

Also, a car maintenance program is in our future to show our single parents how to maintain their car, change oil, tires fluids etc. Another great idea shared was to include the children during our Sunday morning worship.

Great things are happening in Texas!!! To bring Aspire to your church, contact us today!!!!

Love you guys!
Pastor Mike

we have a true need and we feel that we should share it with all of you. until recently, debbie and i have been able to personally support the majority of funding needed to assist these incredible single parent families which God has placed into our lives. the need has been great, but by His grace we have been able to care for them on our own. however, it has become evident to us that this is a ministry which God wants us to allow others to partner with us as we provide hope to these hurting families. so, we come to you and ask if you’d consider financially partnering with us to meet the needs of these precious lives.

we have been blessed beyond measure by watching the heart of a child open up when they realize that someone will truly love them for them, or watching the hope in the eyes of a mother who knows that she and her children are no longer alone in their struggles.

currently, we have many single moms in particular who are waiting for aspire to help them, but we need your help. please consider joining us in assisting single parents in righteous endeavors. if you have questions or would like to know more about aspireministry, please visit our website or join us on facebook, or call or email me directly. i would love to have the opportunity to talk to you more about partnership opportunities with aspireministry. thank you for your consideration and we look forward to touching these precious lives with you.

Hey gang, Pastor Mike here,

I can’t believe it! I was asked to write an article about free grace for the 2009 Free Grace Alliance conference held in Dallas, Texas. This is where all the big wigs meet and talk theology. In fact, there are three of my seminary professors going to give talks. Just thought I would share this with you.

Aspirations to all,

Love you guys,

Pastor Mike

Give me free grace or give me legalism

“A Single Parent Response”

BOUND BY LEGALISM’S THEOLOGY

When Aspire Ministry began assisting single parents in righteous endeavors it was difficult to persuade them to attend the local church. Time after time the same story surfaces;

“Why go? They all look at me and my children, judging us because of past struggles of faith, and especially when the dreaded divorce word comes out of my mouth. I feel as though I am unworthy and probably not even saved!”

My heart sinks as a free grace pastor seeing one more precious child of God stomped into the ground because of legalistic churches and pastors mandating works and perseverance be the defining factor proving ones justification.

Not only does legalism create self-doubt of having been saved, but renders the single parent feeling ineffective to serve Christ as their worth and value have been misaligned due to sanctifications and justifications intertwinement. They are left once more in search of acceptance. Now, God doesn’t even seem a possibility.

UNCHAINED BY FREE GRACE THEOLOGY

When Yvette responded to me of being unworthy and possibly of being lost, my free grace theology kicked in; “What part of eternity being a free gift requires you to determine your being saved based on your walk with Christ?” I asked. “Is God judging your works to see if you are saved?” At this point in her life the answer was yes.

After several months of free grace teaching through the books of James, 1st John, and the Gospel of John, Yvette was set free from the bonds of legalism. She now sees Christ being the object of her faith producing assurance of her salvation. Now that justification and sanctification have taken their proper place, Yvette is motivated through love to serve King Jesus due to what He has done for her, not what she can do for Him to be saved. Praise God!!

Oh, and she now serves at a local church, helping lead worship. Free grace theology has shored up her value and worth as she now is assured of her salvation, storing reward in heaven. And, I bet her children will be free grace kids!!!

Blessing to you all and come visit us in ministry at aspireministry.org.

Pastor Mike

(Beaten up student of Free Grace Theology under Dr. Chay!!)
